NSADR Bikers’ Event

NSADR in conjunction with Staffordshire Triumph, Bryan’s Motorcycle Training Centre, Staffordshire Advanced Riders and our local rider safety partners.

On 20th June, our Rider Section held a Bikers’ Event at Kev Bryan’s Motorcycle Training Centre at the Bet365 Stadium.

What a fantastic day we had at our Bikers’ Event. Stand holders generously gave up their time to support the event and began setting up bright and early from 8.30am. Lillies Kitchen arrived early too, getting the kettle on and preparing bacon and sausage baps for everyone attending.

Bikers’ Event Write-Up

Stand Holders and Supporters

We were joined by Stu Allen, Chris Clegg and Mark Robinson from Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership; Kate and Pam from Ratchet and Ride, who were promoting their Biker Mechanic courses; Maxine Holliday, British Motorcyclists Federation Media and Community Liaison; and Peter Laidlaw from the British Motorcyclists Federation, who provided information about the BMF Blue Riband Advanced Riders Award scheme.

We also welcomed Amy from Staffordshire Triumph, Nick, Ian, Martin, Jack and Ernie from Staffordshire Advanced Riders, and of course our own NSADR stand, supported by Steve and Paul.

Riders Arriving and Group Rides

Riders were keen to get going and began arriving from 9.45am. Attendees included NSADR and Staffordshire Advanced Riders members, riders who had previously trained with Kev Bryan, members of North Staffs Bikers, and members of the public who had seen the event advertised on Facebook.

At 10am, Kev and John from Bryan’s Motorcycle Training Centre took a group of seven riders out for a group ride on brand-new Triumph 400cc and 660cc motorcycles. Before setting off, Kev gave a short briefing on group riding safety. The group rides were then repeated at 11am, 12 noon and 1pm.

Slow Riding Exercises

Meanwhile, on the large car park at the back of the Stoke City Football Stadium, Daz and Charlie, NSADR Lead Observers, along with Roz and Blakey, NSADR Observers, supervised the slow riding exercises. Riders who were not taking part in the group rides had the opportunity to practise and develop their slow riding skills.

Many thanks go to Daz and Kev Bryan for planning and setting up the slow riding course.

Police Bikers and Refreshments

We also had a brilliant turnout from Staffordshire Police Bikers. Luckily for us, an exceptional convoy had broken down, which meant three police bikers were able to join us: Anya, Dan and Nathan from the Proactive Road Harm Prevention Team. Their bikes certainly made an impression.

Lillies Kitchen served delicious food and hot and cold drinks throughout the day. The bacon baps were especially popular, with good quality bacon and super fresh baps.

Feedback From The Day

By 2pm it was time to pack away. Riders reported having a great time and were already asking when the next event would be. One lady rider said, “I loved riding on the 400cc Triumph. It was so nimble, I want to buy one.”

The slow riding course was also very popular. One of our NSADR members said they felt much more confident after taking part.
