Blaiky’s IAM RoadSmart journey
My interest in motorcycling began while serving with the Royal Navy aboard HMS Newcastle in the West Indies. During a deployment, I was sent a video featuring two Boost Yamaha riders battling it out in the British Superbike Championship. Watching the skill, precision, and excitement of racing sparked my passion for motorcycling, and I took my motorcycle test shortly after returning home.
Through my current role, I have developed a strong commitment to improving road safety for motorcyclists. This led me to become a National Observer, enabling me to help riders develop their skills, confidence, and safety on the road.
Prior to this, I spent ten years as an advanced and pursuit-trained car driver. The Roadcraft principles and experience gained during that time provided a solid foundation for my own advanced motorcycle journey, helping me achieve my Advanced Rider qualification and ultimately progress to National Observer status.
